The transition from camper to counselor is one of the most exciting steps in a young leader’s journey. Our Camp Counselor in Training (CIT) Course is designed to prepare teens and young adults for the responsibilities of becoming a counselor by developing leadership skills, teamwork abilities, and an understanding of camper care. This course bridges the gap between being a participant and stepping into a leadership role, helping future counselors build the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

CIT programs are more than a training ground, they are an investment in the next generation of camp leaders. By completing this course, trainees will gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to support campers, contribute to a strong camp culture, and prepare for success both at camp and beyond.

This course is comprised of 10 lessons:

1. The Role of a Camp Counselor
2. Supervision
3. Interacting with Campers
4. Camper Conflict
5. Managing Camp Groups
6. Swimming at Camp
7. Coordinating Successful Activities
8. Activity Stations and Transitions
9. Arts and Crafts at Camp
10. Field Trips
